Symptoms of diabetes and tips to ward it off

Maintaining the normal glucose levels is the aim of every diabetic in this world. Diabetes occurs when the body is unsuccessful in releasing the needed doses of insulin or when the body is unable to fully utilize the insulin being produced.

This problem does not stem through one agent only. There may be many factors involved which can activate this illness. It may be due to deleterious habits like unhealthy diet or absence of any physical activity or it could be due to genetic heredity. Whatever the causes may be if the symptoms are detected early the onset of this disease could be prevented.

There are many symptoms but can prove difficult to detect as they are simple and often imperceptible.

  • Frequent urination is experienced indicating that the sugar level in the blood has been plummeted. The kidneys work to remove this excessive sugar and toxins from the blood thus leading to dehydration.
  • This dehydration can then trigger the urge to drink water at short intervals and increase your thirst mechanism. Extreme thirst is a sure symptom of diabetes.

  • Excessive hunger is stimulated since glucose is not being absorbed and converted to energy and is being eliminated through the urine as waste. This can also lead to weight loss amongst patients. Insufficient energy can also induce prolonged fatigue and exhaustion and lethargy settles over.
  • Poor or blurry vision is also a warning as the body is in need of fluids and it draws them from the eye tissue.
  • Similarly painful gums, wounds that take much longer time to heal, tingling sensations in arms and feet are all telltale signals of diabetes.

Once the problem has been diagnosed and medications prescribed it is essential that one knows how to balance medications with methods that can lower the glucose levels. When combined with medications the below listed steps can help to maintain normal glucose levels.

  • Exercise has been one of the time-tested activities in keeping the blood glucose level down. Engaging in other physical activities besides exercise can also significantly lower the blood sugar level.
  • Stay away from acidic and carbohydrate rich foods and opt for alkaline ones like whole grains and dairy products. Eating raw vegetables is more beneficial then the cooked ones. Consuming plenty of fruits will also assist you in combating this disease as they contain fiber which is very crucial for your health, some of which are peas, bananas, tomatoes, melons, apples, oranges and potatoes.
  • Drinking plenty of water is also important as water is alkaline and it has no substitute. It flushes away the toxins in the body and decreases the amount of glucose thus aiding in curing diabetes.

Since this is a disease which is life long, treating the blood glucose level may take time but patience and determination can achieve success. Taking precautions and adopting a healthy lifestyle can ease the depression and other negative tendencies.
